There are currently only two known ways of conditioning water to reduce or eliminate scale and fouling:

physically with magnetic water conditioning - magnetic conditioning of pipes is continuous and environmentally friendly.

chemically with chemical water conditioning - chemical conditioning of pipes lasts only as long the chemicals remain active, is frequently toxic and always polluting.

In a perfect world, a superior technology would immediately supplant and replace an inferior technology to the betterment of mankind. However, we live in an imperfect world; although we at MagneGen Systems, Inc. are working hard to make it better! In any case, we hereby make the blanket claim that magnetic water conditioning with MagneGen^® products is a superior water conditioning technology relative to chemical water conditioning. Key Benefits of MagneGen^® Magnetic Conditioning over Chemical Treatment

Lower Direct Operating Costs - MagneGen^® magnetic conditioning of water is continuous and does not require constant replenishment as in the case of chemicals. Since there is nothing consumed in the magnetic water conditioning process there are no periodic operating charges for chemical purchases.

Lower Indirect Operating Costs - magnetic water conditioning - in the case of cooling towers - can operate at zero bleed with no discharge into municipal sewage facilities and no new make-up water required to replace depleted chemical solutions. This means that there are lower municipal charges for (a) water use and (b) sewage use. Over time these recurring costs can really mount up!

Consistent Performance - magnetic water conditioning starts on the moment of installation and continues virtually forever with no highs and lows as is the case when chemicals are either added or depleted. This more consistent performance reduces energy costs and extends the life of the equipment in service.

Safe and Easy to Use - magnetic water conditioning is safe and easy to install, monitor and maintain. Chemical water conditioning can be hazardous to human workers; destructive to pipes, appliances and other surfaces; and requires constant monitoring and replacement of depleted chemicals.

Environmentally Friendly - magnetic water conditioning saves water on a thirsty planet and imposes no hidden costs on the environment. There is no excessive use of water as in the normal chemical bleed water discharge and constant make-up water replenishment of cooling tower systems under chemical conditioning. Chemical water conditioning uses toxic chemicals and produces hazardous waste which impose costs on the environment - and thus on society at large - far greater than the operating costs of chemical water conditioning.

Impediments to Progress

So why is it that - with a superior magnetic water conditioning technology readily available to everyone - most of the world still depends on a costly and polluting chemical conditioning of water? We can cite at least three reasons why chemical water treatment is still the preferred technology of choice:

Timing - The chemical reactions involved in pipe fouling were understood quite some time before the physical attraction of pipe charging. As a result the earliest solutions to the problem were chemical. Right now the world's largest chemical companies enjoy an approximately 50 year head start on magnetic water conditioning. Only an intensive process of education bringing the true physical causes of water pipe scaling and fouling to public knowledge will resolve this issue in favor of magnetic water conditioning.

Customer Inertia - The simple human condition of sticking to the solutions you know rather than trying out something relatively new and therefore relatively unknown. Only an intensive process of education will resolve this issue in favor of magnetic water conditioning.

Vested Interests - Rapid implementation of the superior MagneGen^® magnetic conditioning is vastly impeded by the wealth and entrenched interests of a globe girdling chemical industry. For all the obvious economic reasons, people in the chemical industry prefer to perpetuate the use of costly, toxic and inefficient chemical treatment. Only an intensive process of education where the truth comes out and the best technology wins will resolve this issue in favor of MagneGen^®magnetic water conditioning.
